…Plains, TX April 29 2011, 9:00 AM Friday 12, 2011

They’re getting ready for another annual Newsom Vineyards Grape Day; the 2011 version.  There is a great list of speakers and some equipment demo’s.The list of speakers includes Dr. Ed Hellman, Dr. Andrew Snyder, Fritz Westover, Dr. Brent Trela, Lou Bright, and Dr. Thomas Thompson, and of course, come see all our big toys (like Neal’s “Big Blue” grape harvester).

Click here to check out the action from last year’s Newsom Grape Day.

NOTICE!!! The Honorable State Repersenitive Charles Perry has agreed to be theLuncheon guest!!!!

The Newsom’s next-door neighbor to the north, 2-B Ranch is going to cater the Chuck Wagon BBQ so bring a big appetite.

Also, DON’T FORGET bring your favorite bottle of wine. This will be tasted for quality control (of course) and also gets you special seating in the VIP section (Ha! Ha! A little friendly Newsom humor).

There are a few camping spaces for those that want to bring their campers. If you have a tent, the Newsoms have plenty of wide open spaces in their neck-of-the-woods.

IMPORTANT: There is no charge, so the price is right. However, they would like to collect a lunch donation for the scholarship fund.

Please RSVP for the meal. The contact information is: www.newsomvineyards.com or call 1-806-456-6877 and asked to speak with Janice, Nolan, or Neal Newsom.

The Newsoms are located 1.5 miles East of hwy 214 on 2196, 6 miles North of Plains (look for the big white barn). The meeting will start about 9:00 AM. Check Google Maps here.

Oh yes, don’t forget to bring lawn chairs for the star party!

Holiday Inn Express in Brownfield Tx is giving a group discount for Grape Day participants. Their contact info:v806-637-9000; Discount Code: Winegrower

Come see why the Texas High Plains AVA has been compared to growing grapes on the Coonawarra region of Australia or Mars.

Love to taste, talk and tweet about Texas wines and where they are in the global scheme for wines. After all that's the only way they will reach the full potential.
