Happy International Women’s Day! Texas Hill Country Wineries (THCW) is excited to announce that our three newest members are all women-owned.
Wine for the People was founded by Rae Wilson, who is also the winemaker. Wine for the People makes boutique Texas wines that will change your mind. It’s tasting room also offers tastings and food pairings. Founded in 2010, Wine For the People moved into its current Fredericksburg Tasting Room in 2024. Reservations are recommended. Rae Wilson makes limited production, award-winning wines including La Valentía and Dandy Rosé brands.
Elisa Christopher is owned by Elisa Jones and her husband, Christopher, who make their wines together. Elisa and Christopher have a simple story: They were childhood friends that grew up on vineyards. They met again later in life, married and now make wines together. Their story may be simple, but their wines are complex. They offer wines from Methode Champenoise – 100% Texas Trebbiano, to intense reds made from Malbec, Merlot and Aglianico.
Portree Cellars is owned by Janet Miertschin, who is also the winemaker, and her husband, Mark. Their operation is a family owned and operated winery. We grow exceptional grapes, produce high quality wines, and provide a relaxing place to enjoy wine with friends, new and old. It is names after Portree, a quaint village in Scotland where Janet and her family vacationed and hatched a winery plan. It’s white wines come from lesser known but quality wines from Fiano, Petit Manseng to Marsanne, and reds from equally exotic Teroldego, Aglianico, and Mourvèdre. But wait there’s more….
