Wine Country in Georgia (USA): Surprised?

Wine Grapes of Georgia USA

Excerpt from Forbes with link to the story…

The soil in the Georgia’s Dahlonega Plateau AVA is comparable to that found in Italian wine regions. It is Georgia’s very own AVA (American Viticultural Area), Dahlonega Plateau, that was designated in the summer of 2018.

The area of this AVA is 133 square miles with the same climate, soil, elevation, and physical features creating conditions that allow for the growing of grape varietals such as Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Merlot.

There’s only one other AVA in the state and that’s The Upper Hiwassee Highlands AVA which includes land in three counties of northern Georgia and two counties of western North Carolina.

Love to taste, talk and tweet about Texas wines and where they are in the global scheme for wines. After all that's the only way they will reach the full potential.
