February is the Season for Love & Reddy Vineyards’ Wines: Reddy or Not!

February is Reddy Vineyards and Lovers

February is the season of love and Reddy Vineyards, a pioneer of Texas grape growing, is celebrating with a curated wine bundle. Wine lovers can enjoy a specially selected three bottle set of Reddy Vineyards’ 2019 estate wines great for celebrating Valentines Day including: TX-BDX Red Blend, Signature Rosé, and TX LOVERS Semi-Sweet Red all for $80 at www.reddyvineyards.com. Each wine bundle comes with a complimentary tasting video led by Reddy Vineyards COO and Sommelier, Eric Sigmund.

“Valentine’s Day is all about showing that special someone how much you love them. You can taste the love that our team pours into each bottle,” says Akhil Reddy Co-Owner, Reddy Vineyards. “For a quarter century, my family has had a passion for grape growing and winemaking, which we hope to share with you and your Valentine.

Each of the wines included in the bundle are unique to Reddy Vineyards and should be ordered by February 9th to arrive in time for Valentine’s Day.

  • 2019 TX-BDX Red Blend – This Bordeaux-style blend features Merlot (71%), Cabernet Franc (10%), Cabernet Sauvignon (7%), Malbec (6%), and Petit Verdot (6%). This rich and enticing wine displays layers of red and black fruit notes with spice undertones and a bold structure.
  • 2019 Signature Rosé –  A stunning Provence-style rosé offers flavors of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, and succulent red apple. This wine is light-bodied with a crisp, mineral-driven finish.  This wine was awarded a gold medal at the 37th Annual Lone Star International Wine Competition and Reserve Class Texas Rose Champion at the 2021 Houston Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition.
  • 2019 TX LOVERS Semi-Sweet Red –  The 2019 Reddy Vineyards TX LOVERS is a seductive semi-sweet red wine with juicy red fruit notes and a rich, smooth finish. Serve slightly chilled. This wine was awarded the silver medal at the 2020 San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo Wine Competition.

I recently had the opportunity to taste two of these wines:

Reddy Vineyards 2019 TX-BDX Red Blend (Blocks 9, 12, 17) feature five Texas-grown Bordeaux red grape varieties – with Merlot in the lead followed by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petit Verdot. It is quite a treat to get all five of these Bordeaux varieties in one wine with its medium-bodied pale ruby color and notes of earthy red and black berries, toasted oak in gentle harmony with acidity and tannins.

Reddy Vineyards 2019 Signature Rosé (Blocks 5, 18) composed of Cinsault, Mourvedre, and Merlot offers a pale salmon color and a combo of stone fruit, red berries, and dry minerals that concentrates on the palate and in a long finish.

For those of you that are in the Houston area, you can find Reddy Vineyards wines at Central Market and Total Wines – however, not the two wines I sampled. My suggestion is to go directly to the winery (click here) where all of Reddy wines can be purchased online if you can’t yet find them locally.

Dallasites, you are in for a special treat where wine lovers can enjoy these Texas wines at Gorji Restaurant (5100 Belt Line Road Ste 402
Dallas, Texas). Known for fine dining with an emphasis on food and flavors, Gorji has created a Valentine’s prix-fixe dinner paired with Reddy Vineyards wines. To learn more, or place an order, visit www.chefgorji.com

Love to taste, talk and tweet about Texas wines and where they are in the global scheme for wines. After all that's the only way they will reach the full potential.
