UPDATE: First Annual San Saba River Wine/Pecan Dinner & Pecan Jam: Texas Music, Wine, Food Extravaganza!

Like me, you must be longing for the cool (or at least cooler) days of fall in Texas. What better way to enjoy the joys of Texas music, wine and food and the charm of the Texas hill Country than at the First Annual San Saba River Pecan Jam.

UPDATE: On Friday, October 21, the San Saba Festival Association present an evening under the stars celebrating San Saba Pecans and Texas Wine with a Texas Pecan & Wine Dinner (limited to the first 200 reservations). It will start at 5:30 pm in the Mill Pond Park. $125 per person. RSVP required. Contact: Info@pecanjam.com. Steven Krueger (Sommelier, Westin La Canterra Resort) and I will be the featured speakers and discuss the wines and wine/food pairings.

On Saturday, October 22, the community of San Saba will host the First Annual San Saba River Pecan Jam to be held in Risien Park in San Saba, Texas. The San Saba Festival Association, the Texas pecan industry, the local business community, the Chamber of Commerce, the San Saba Community Foundation, our civic organizations and the City have come together to make the dream of a Pecan festival in The Pecan Capital of the World a reality.

Visitors from across Texas will discover what our residents already know: that San Saba is a wonderful place to live, play and work.

This one day festival is a Go Texan event and will include an all day venue of Texas music including Asleep at the Wheel, an elaborate Pecan Emporium, Go Texan vendors from around the state, a Wine Garden highlighting a select group of ten hill country wineries, and a special Enchanted Orchard for the kids. Pecan Jam will also feature cooking demonstrations by Chef Terry Thompson-Anderson of Austin, author of the award winning cookbook, Texas on the Plate, Kevin Wenzel of Wiseman Chocolate House in Hico and Chef Curt Sassak of the Turtle Restaurant in Brownwood.

I’ll be there too, swirling, sniffing and tasting; generally, taking in all of the fine Texas wine and food action. I hope to see you there.

Love to taste, talk and tweet about Texas wines and where they are in the global scheme for wines. After all that's the only way they will reach the full potential.
