Texas Harvest Wine Trail

“Saturday before last we went on the Texas Harvest Wine Trail – courtesy of Russ Kane at Vintage Texas and January at Texas Wine Trail. I love visiting the wineries this time of year. The harvest is coming in, the wineries are intense with the smell of fermenting wine, there is a certain excitement in the air, the wineries are full of activity.

Many of the wineries will have a Grape Stomp during the harvest season. This is just for fun – I doubt if any of these stomped grapes at Fall Creek ended up in barrels! Fall Creek was established in 1975 and sits up on the shores of Lake Buchannan.

There were 24 wineries on the Harvest Wine Trail. We got a bit of a late start and spent a couple of hours talking with a vineyard manager and admiring his Tempranillo vineyard, so we couldn’t even begin to get to all the wineries on the trail. And realistically, wouldn’t be able to sample that much wine! “
