The hunt is run by the local Jaycees who raise money for scholarships and social programs in the Sweetwater area. Actually, it is a win-win-win situation:

1. The hunt actually does reduce the number of snakes and the incidences of snake bites on the ranches in the area.

2. Secondly, the snakes are milked for their venom and the meat is prepared for eating at the event and sold to take home.

3. The hunt is run by the local Jaycees who raise money for scholarships and social programs in the Sweetwater area.

I have always used the snake proof <a href="http://www.greatoutdoorsdepot.com/apparel-gators.html" rel="nofollow">gaiters</a>, but have heard good things about the chaps? Are they really heavy? because that is my major fear is that there going to be so heavy I won't have the mobility I do when I use the gaiters.
